Little Rock's After School Program (ASP) operates on Wednesdays from the time school dismisses until 5:30 PM. (Most children remain for our evening family night meal and Wednesday night classes and activities.) For a cost of $5 per week, children in grades K--5 can be picked up from Lucama Elementary School and brought to the church for an afternoon of snacks, help with homework, Bible lesson, crafts and/or games. Children from other elementary schools can participate in the program if their parents arrange their own transportation. Those in grades 6--8 may participate in the ASP if they are actively involved at Little Rock. This age group either rides the bus to the church or parents must arrange their own transportation. There is no cost for the Middle School ASP, and their afternoon consists of a snack, doing homework, scrapbooking, and a variety of other service type projects. With the exception of Marci (our children & youth minister) the staff for this program is made up of volunteers with a variety of experience in working with children. Here’s some basic details of the program:
- Wednesdays ONLY
- $5 per child, per day
- Church volunteers and I will pick up the participants from the school each Wednesday afternoon when school dismisses. We will meet them at the office entrance. If the weather is nice, we will walk back to the church; in case of not-so-nice weather, I will drive the church van over to the school to pick up the children.
- Afternoons will consist of snacks, games, a Bible lesson, crafts, and some time to work on homework/read.
- Pickup time is 5:30 pm unless you indicate on your registration card that your child/ren will be staying for our Wednesday evening activities. (See enclosed information concerning our Wednesday evening activities.)
- On early release Wednesdays, we pick up the children at 1 PM and do extra activities (sometimes away from church). There is no additional cost for this and I will let you know ahead of time if we will be doing something away from the church.
